아이기도외 각종 일본무술 경험을 가진 무술인 루퍼트애킨슨씨가 용술관 금산본부 새벽수련(05:30)에 참가한 후 올린 소감입니다.
그는 일본무술을 다수섭렵하고 아이기도 책도 저술한 대단한 열정을 가진 순수한 무술인이었습니다.

Yes, there is most definitely a DR 'flavour' in Choi's style - Yongsul-gwan. Might even be the same thing.
최용술도주님 스타일이 남아있는 용술관의 기술은 명백히 대동류의 맛이 납니다. 같은 무술처럼 보이기도 합니다.

Being in Korea I find the Yongsul-gwan and GM Kim Yun-sang quite interesting.
한국에서 용술관과 김윤상도주님이란 새로운 정보를 발견했다.

The Yongsul-gwan is ineresting as what they do is probably the source of most modern Korean Hapki style martial arts.
용술관은 현대 한국 합기도의 근본을 알수 있는 흥미로운 곳이다.
They teach exactly as taught by Choi Yong-sul. That's it. And it is a solid, complete system.
그들은 정확히 최용술도주님의 기술만을 가르친다. 이것은 엄격하고 완벽한 체계이다.
All other modern Korean Hapki arts, although they claim to be 2000 years old etc., stem from Choi Yong-sul.
모든 현대 합기도는 비록 그들이 2000년전부터 합기도가 시작되었다고 주장하지만 최용술도주님으로부터 시작된것은 부인할 수 없다.

In that light, Yongsul-gwan's continuous 50 year claim to Japanese heritage is all the more convincing.
용술관은 기술적인 부분에서 일본으로부터의 계승을 거의 50년간 변함없이 주장하고 있다.

Yongsul-gwan is tiny in comparison to other Korean groups but they have stuck to their guns and kept training - sticking to their source.

Korean Connections : After World War II many Koreans returned from Japan. One man, Choi Yong-sul, claimed to have learned Daito-ryu directly from Takeda Sokaku.
2차 세계대전 이후 다께다소가꾸의 제자라 주장하는 최용술이란 분이 일본에서 돌아왔다.
Although there is no official evidence in Daito-ryu records that this was true,
비록 그들은 공식적인 대동류 증서는 없을지라도 다음의 언급한 것이 증거다.
it is evident that he learned something in Japan and, from what I have gleaned from others, and seen with my own eyes from watching the few who stick to his original teachings, it certainly resembles Daito-ryu.
그가 일본에서 무엇인가를 배웠다는 것, 그리고 내가 여러 사람으로부터 자료를 수집해 본것과 내가 직접 그의 무술을 그대로 수련하는 사람들을 보았을때 그 무술은 분명 대동류를 닮아 있었다.
Choi Yong-sul was successful in passing on his art, which at various times had names such as Kido, Yusool, Yawara ... but it was his students who changed the name to Hapkido, which uses the same Chinese characters as Aikido (apparently against his advice), and added other techniques, such as high kicks.
최용술은 그의 무술을 기도, 유술, 야와라 등으로 언급했으나 그의 제자들은 아이키도와 한자가 같은 합기도로 바꾸면서 상단발차기 등 추가 기술을 도입했다.
Another twist is that many modern Hapkido teachers do not know their own Hapkido history.
또 다른 문제점은 오늘날 대부분의 합기도 선생들은 그들의 역사를 모른다.
They have erased Choi Yong-sul and prefer to assert that the art they do has existed in Korea for 2000 years.
